The European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) bestowed upon Cambodia the prestigious award of “World’s Best Tourism Destination for 2016”, on account of the Kingdom’s rich cultural and historical legacy, outstanding natural beauty and safety track record.
Cambodia beat out 29 other competing countries to clinch the international distinction.
The ECTT also named Cambodia as “Favourite Cultural Destination in 2016”.
The two accolades are the latest in a series of international distinctions that Cambodia has received over the past year. In March, TripAdvisor ranked Siem Reap as the top destination in Asia and fifth best travel destination worldwide in its annual Taveller’s Choice Destination awards.
Last year, Cambodia was named “Best Culture & Heritage Tour Destination” in the annual World Travel Fairs (WTF) awards.
