ITsumo Tec Co., Ltd., a high-tech company and developer of the iTsumo taxi ride-hailing mobile app, and Choice, one of the oldest licensed metered taxis in Cambodia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate together and offer a better quality taxi services for the Kingdom.
iTsumo started this year with great support from local taxi drivers, and has quickly become one of most popular taxi hailing apps among local passengers and foreigners in Cambodia. Currently there are more than 700 vehicles registered with the company including SUV cars, saloon cars and tuk-tuks. Most of these are private cars, meaning drivers accept passenger request only when they are available. Essentially they are part-time drivers.
Choice is one the very few taxi companies which own a legal taxi license from Royal government of Cambodia. The company has been operating since 2009 and now has more than 200 professional drivers.
Currently Choice mainly relies on its call centre for dispatching taxis to each ride request from passengers made by telephone. But now there are more and more smartphone users in Cambodia, and it has been deemed better off for the company to make use of new technologies which iTsumo Tech Co., Ltd. can provide.
The new ride-hailing mobile app iTsumo has rolled up in the increasingly competitive Cambodian online market offering the “most reliable and easiest way to request a taxi”. The Uber-like app connects users who need a reliable ride with vehicle owners looking to earn money driving. By turning on the smartphone’s GPS location function, passengers can locate drivers nearby and select a destination on a map. The driver’s in return can locate the users quickly and easily.
All Choice taxi drivers will use the iTsumo app. This is really good for iTsumo to improve service quality because these drivers are experts, they work full time and they know well about locations. Both of the companies’ logo will be displayed on the taxis as well as in the app, as part of the MoU regarding branding and increasing awareness. By adding all of Choice’s professional drivers to its existing private drivers, iTsumo is set to become the Number 1 taxi service company in terms of taxi numbers and coverage of Cambodia.
From this MOU, both companies expect a win-win synergy and to accelerate their customance in Cambodia.
