Investors will be able to trade stocks listed on the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) via their computer or mobile device thanks to a central online trading platform expected to be launched by the end of this year.
CSX director of market operations Lamun Soleil said brokerages would be charged a fee to use the Mobile Trading System (MTS), which is being developed with technical assistance from Korea International Cooperation Agency.
“To save the cost for each securities firm and the market, our MTS is one that can be used by all securities firm,” he said. “They are expected to pay a regular fee, which is much lower than if they each developed their own MTS.”
Soleil noted that online trading was increasingly driving international stock exchanges, with many of the region’s bourses including the Korea Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand, having already implemented MTS platforms. The online platform will help increase order process efficiency and reduce transaction errors made by brokers, according to Soleil.
