Phnum Impact is being launched to promote entrepreneurship in Cambodian cities and rural areas and is formed by Impact Hub Phnom Penh, with funding from Khmer Enterprise (Ministry of Economy and Finance) and co-funding from PACT Cambodia.

On July 8th 2020, Impact Hub Phnom Penh said: “We’re excited to announce that alongside Khmer Enterprise – សហគ្រិនខ្មែរ and WE Act Cambodia, we’re starting Phum Impact in Siem Reap and Battambang!

Phum Impact is our way of bringing the programs, events and network of Impact Hub Phnom Penh to youth communities in other provinces. Phum Impact won’t be directly led by us, but we’ll be looking for rockstar local founders who share our passion for impactful entrepreneurship.”

Empowering Cambodian youth and startup ecosystems

The teams from Phnum Impact will be visiting the respective Cambodian provinces and look to meet potential Founding teams.

Phnum Impact describes itself as “a grassroots initiative in order to launch locally rooted communities across Cambodia. Through intensive training, coaching and seed funding from Impact Hub Phnom Penh, Phum Impact will play an active role in engaging and connecting local start-up ecosystems in the province, provide business skills training, tailored coaching and community networks to holistically build the entrepreneurial mindsets and capabilities of young entrepreneurs.”

Dr. Chhieng Vanmunin, CEO of Khmer Enterprise said: “As a unit under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, KE has the vision to become the national platform for promoting entrepreneurial activities in Cambodia. This initiative, Phum  Impact, aims to build the entrepreneurial capacity and connect young entrepreneurs and start-ups into an entrepreneurial community, which is well-aligned to KE’s vision.”

Olivia Hough, Managing Director of Impact Hub Phnom Penh added, “We hope the Phum Impact community model will inspire a new generation of impact-driven leaders and entrepreneurs, connect and build new startup ecosystems, and proudly put Siem Reap and Battambang on the map as the upcoming cities to live in and start businesses in Cambodia”.
