Cambodia is the 11th market iflix has entered since its startup in May 2015, and in May this year it claimed it had more than five million subscribers in Asia.

The company said that its most popular movies and TV shows are now available with Khmer subtitles, and its aim is to localise its entire catalogue in “the months to come”.

Smart stated in a press release yesterday that every Smart customer on any tariff plan could enjoy three months of unlimited access “to thousands of exclusive shows, award-winning TV series, blockbuster movies, popular regional content, children’s programmes and much more” on iflix.

“All Smart customers can access iflix on up to five devices at once, stream shows simultaneously on two different devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, TVs and other connected devices,” added the press release.

“Smart customers can also download TV shows and movies to any phone, tablet or mobile device to binge-watch offline, when not connected to the Internet.”

Monthly retail subscriptions for one month of unlimited access to iflix in Cambodia will cost $3. Annual subscriptions will receive a two-month discount off the monthly rate and cost $30 per year.

“Smart is committed to being the digital lifestyle partner for the people in Cambodia. As the leading mobile operator with the vision of being Cambodia’s digital champion, we are excited to partner with a prominent market leader like iflix to offer world-class entertainment to our customers,” said Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata.

“With Smart StreamOn, customers can enjoy a seamless mobile streaming experience anytime, anywhere, utilizing Smart’s ever-expanding 4G+ network to enjoy a wide spread of entertainment content,” added Hundt.

“This builds on our increasing involvement in digital entertainment partnerships and innovative offerings to provide our data-hungry subscribers with new sources of lifestyle value.”

iflix Cambodia and iflix Myanmar country manager Adeana Greenlee said: “It is our aim to redefine how consumers in Cambodia experience entertainment through groundbreaking features and a seamless mobile experience.

“We are thrilled to partner with Smart, Cambodia’s leading mobile network, to deliver iflix’s revolutionary service to as many devices as possible. By providing a new platform for local talent and building a product that’s better than piracy, we are committed to growing and supporting the Cambodian film and television industry in the coming months.”
