Cambodia’s national flag carrier Angkor Air has reached deals on codesharing with a local airline and three international carriers.

The company signed the deals last Friday with local Bassaka Airline and international carriers T’Way Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Lao Airlines. The move will allow the airlines to share flights on different routes, giving passengers the opportunity to book flights to more destinations.

The codeshare deals came after Angkor Air was awarded IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, confirming the carrier is compliant with international quality and safety standards. Cambodia Angkor Air vice CEO Lim Kao said the codeshares will help passengers, particularly those who want to travel to destinations outside of Angkor Air flight routes.

Under the partnerships, the carrier will be able to sell flights to destinations as far afield as Europe and the United States. “With T’Way, we can sell flights to destinations in South Korea. Under the codeshare, our passengers can take its flights and its passengers can take our flights,” Kao said.

“With All Nippon, we can sell flights to the United States and Europe.” Jeong Hong Geun, CEO of T’Way Airlines, said the partnership with Angkor Air will help bring South Korean tourists and businessmen to Cambodia. “Working closely with Angkor Air, we hope we can have chartered and regular flights to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh,” Jeoung said. “South Koreans want to go to Siem Reap for tourism and business passengers like Phnom Penh.”

Currently, T’Way operates flight routes from South Korea to Vietnam’s Danang and Ho Chi Minh cities, where Angkor Air can pick up passengers and take them to Cambodia’s three international airports.

Angkor Air operates two domestic routes and 10 international routes with bases in the country’s three airports – Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap International Airport, and Sihanoukville International Airport.
