The average Cambodian Facebook user in 2016 is between the ages of 18 and 34, university-educated and male, according to the latest data from Geeks in Cambodia. The group released their latest infographic on internet usage in Cambodia on May 2, which illustrates who’s online in the Kingdom with data collected from Facebook and the Singapore-based social media agency We Are Social.

While it may come as no surprise that most Facebook users are Millennials, men outnumbered women almost two to one, with 2.1 million male users compared to 1.3 million female users, roughly the same as 2015. Some 970,000 Facebook users have also attended university, and most likely work in business and administration (99,000), arts and sports (88,000), and sales and retail (86,000).

Geeks in Cambodia and We Are Social data calculate internet penetration at 32 percent, also unchanged from 2015, with 5 million active users. Their data also suggests that many Cambodians own more than one mobile phone, as there are 25.99 mobile connections in the Kingdom, covering 166 percent of the population, according to the group. This is a marked increase from 2015, when there were 23.9 million mobile connections.
