According to a press release issued by American business consulting firm, Frost & Sullivan, recently conducted research on the Cambodian telecommunications industry and awarded Cellcard the 2023 Cambodian Product Leadership Award based on its findings.

The Frost & Sullivan Awards are presented annually to companies that have developed products with innovative features and functionalities that gain rapid market acceptance. The award acknowledges the quality of the solution provided and its enhancement of customer value.

With over 20 years of experience in the market, Cellcard is one of Cambodia’s longest-serving telecommunications companies and is also the only fully Cambodian-owned operator. The company serves over four million customers with nationwide coverage.

In 2022, Cellcard launched four products to upgrade connectivity and enhance its digital services: Time To Rise, Cellcard Serey, Cellcard One, and Playgame Cloud.

The press release states that Cellcard has played a key role in the development of online gaming in the Kingdom, allowing for greater online gaming capabilities through seamless connectivity that is well-suited to the unique characteristics of the Cambodian marketplace.

For example, to improve the user experience, Cellcard expanded its popular gaming data plan, Playgame Unlimited. Catered to meet the needs of Cambodian gamers, the data plan offers access to arcade games and to Cambodia’s first cloud gaming platform, Playgame Cloud.

Mei Lee Quah, Director of ICT Research at Frost & Sullivan, stated that Cellcard appears to have strong future growth potential due to its loyalty programme and market leadership in the eSports and gaming industry in Cambodia.

“Cellcard’s leadership team has an entrepreneurial mindset, which is useful in growing the company in Cambodia’s low-cost market,” said Quah.

Frost & Sullivan’s press release also highlights what it calls Cellcard’s “differentiating factors”, such as its broad consumer base and its offering of affordable pricing schemes within a highly competitive market. The release also mentions the telecommunication company’s focus on targeting the youth market for further growth, as well as its aim to become the leading digital lifestyle services provider in Cambodia.

Cellcard has also been recognised with the 2023 Opensignal award for the fastest download experience in Cambodia, and the 2023 Ookla award for the fastest Cambodian network.
