Cambodia-EU Business Dialogue
September 26 @ 7:30 am - 2:00 pmFree
The annual Cambodia-EU Business Dialogue is the highlight of EuroCham’s advocacy program. EuroCham uses this occasion to present their latest White Book to the Royal Government and to exchange ideas about enhancing Cambodia’s attractiveness to investors.
Four questions about the Cambodia-EU Business Dialogue:
What is advocacy?
Advocacy provides our members a way to collectively communicate with the Royal Government. Feedback from the private sector alerts the government to unclear policies, obstacles preventing new investment, and offers ways to improve the ease of doing business.
How does it work?
Members convey feedback to relevant Ministries who in turn communicate updates, new policies, and clarifications. EuroCham facilitates this through the organisation of forums, workshops, and consultations, while the advocacy itself is led by members who have formed committees around specific topics (e.g. human resources) or sectors (e.g. automotive).
How do members reach the government?
The EuroCham Members Business Confidence Survey informs the Royal Government on business challenges and public opinion
Our wider membership make their voices heard through our yearly Business Confidence Survey. This report provides an empirical understanding of the advantages and challenges to doing business in Cambodia, and quantifies the impact of Government reforms. (All attendees will receive a copy of the brand new 2016-2017 report)
But the most impactful way that members reach the government is through EuroCham’s White Book…
What is the “White Book”?
Each year, EuroCham combines all of their committees’ policy analysis and technical proposals into a professionally produced “White Book,” distributed (and warmly received) throughout the highest levels of government.
The annual White Book is a collection of policy proposals created by EuroCham members, and is received warmly by the highest levels of government. At the 2016 Cambodia-EU Business Dialogue, EuroCham presented their inaugural White Book containing 58 recommendations from our members to the Royal Government – who in turn responded to more than half of those proposals over the following year.
