BEST Inc, a Chinese supply chain service provider headquartered in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, announced that it has launched logistics services in Cambodia.

On July 1st 2020, the logistics and supply chain specialist said it had launched operations in three Southeast countries: Cambodia (Best Express KH), Singapore and Malaysia. The company plans to build 400 express delivery stations and 12 transhipment centres in three years in the three SEA countries. In a statement from the company, it said: "The transhipment centres in Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh will be equipped with the latest automation devices to ensure highly efficient sorting, weighing, and scanning procedures." Johnny Chou, Founder, Chairman and CEO of BEST Inc., said, "We are excited to develop our logistics networks in Southeast Asia, a key focus area of our global strategy. The outbreak of COVID-19 accelerated and amplified consumers' reliance on e-commerce and created even larger potential opportunities in the region. We are confident that our technology-enabled logistics services and high-quality express delivery options will be a critical service component for both merchants and consumers, during both this difficult period and beyond it."

As a result, BEST Inc has ambitions to build an efficient logistics network with extensive coverage in Southeast Asia. In addition, the company has started cross-border services between China and the five markets in Southeast Asia in July 2020. BEST Inc has already established logistics networks in five Southeast Asian countries including Cambodian neighbours Thailand and Vietnam. It also plans to enter the markets in Indonesia and the Philippines in the near future. They are also offering next-day delivery options for major areas of Thailand and same-day deliveries in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi, Vietnam. The company had a total parcel volume from Southeast Asia of 8.8 million parcels in the first quarter of 2020.
