In April, the director-general of Cambodia Post, Ork Bora, said the suspension of services was due to the number of flights cancelled globally. Cambodia Post said the rated would increase from August 2020 by as much as $8 per kg for the duration of COVID-19 using it's EMS (Express Mail Service). The demand is obviously high- on Monday 3rd August 2020 when services resumed, Cambodia Post received 2,810kg of mail from 373 customers. “We expect our revenue to remain strong or register an upward spiral towards our $1 million per month ambition by virtue of the substantial Covid-19 era surge in online orders,” Bora said. Cambodia Post earned more than $2.65 million from January - June 2020. In 2019 it earned revenues of between $11-12 million (which was a decrease from $13.81 million revenue total in 2018). In July 2020, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) said it is also reviewing and revising a draft law on the Cambodian postal sector. In 2020, there are more than 40 postal service providers licensed in Cambodia.
