Cambodian businesses recognised in international awards
This past week, a number of Cambodian businesses were winners of various international and regional awards across a range of industries.
Tourism - 3rd Experience Mekong Awards
Six tourism enterprises in the Mekong Region were named winners at the 3rd Experience Mekong Awards this week. Entries were received from 350 tourism SMEs in the Experience Mekong Collection covering six countries — Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The organiser, Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO), said: "for the first time, online voting played a role in the selection process for the six-country winners." In Cambodia, the 2020 winner was the Elephant Valley Project.

Banking
Asian Banker International Excellence in Retail Financial Awards 2020
Canadia Bank received the award of Best Retail Bank in Cambodia at the Asian Banker International Excellence in Retail Financial Awards 2020.
The Cambodian bank has been operating since 1991 and was privatised in 1998, and is considered one of the largest local banks in Cambodia.
Raymond Sia, CEO of Canadia Bank, said: “I am delighted and honoured for Canadia Bank to be recognised by a strong reputable publication such as The Asian Banker for the second consecutive year. The bank was previously recognised as the Strongest Bank by Balance Sheet in Cambodia in 2019." The awards were held online and were first held in 2002. In 2015, an audit-based approach in the evaluation process was introduced.
This is the first time a Cambodian bank was included as a country winner (Cambodia was spelt incorrectly on the Awards website.)
International Business Magazine Awards 2020
The Dubai-based financial, technology and banking magazine launched in 2018 and has been holding annual awards recognising the key players in each region. Cambodia had four award winners in the banking sector in 2020 at the International Business Magazine Awards.

Telecommunications - International Business Magazine Awards 2020
At the same awards as the banking sector winners, Cambodia had one telecommunication company recognised, as Cellcard won another global award for its network in the Kingdom of Cambodia at the International Business Magazine Awards 2020.
