Following the success of the first Tax Forum held by EuroCham Cambodia in September last year, the second annual Tax Forum will take place tomorrow at the Intercontinental Hotel, with registration starting at 8am. The Tax Forum 2016 drew more than 400 attendees, with over 90 percent of participants remaining throughout the day, given the prominence of the subject matter.

The agenda this year again features distinguished guests from the General Department of Taxation (GDT) and speeches and panel discussions from the country’s top legal and tax advisory firms. The forum will be opened by EuroCham chairman Arnaud Darc, followed by a speech from George Edgar, the Ambassador of the European Union to Cambodia.

In what is expected to be one of the highlights of the event, the forum will then feature a speech by GDT director general Kong Vibol, with a summation of the performance of the GDT in 2017, a discussion on policy, regulatory and procedural changes and insights into expected future initiatives.

The remainder of the day will feature presentations from the top tax specialist in the market, including speakers from Deloitte, Ernst & Young, DFDL, Bun & Associates and Cambodian Investment Management.

The speakers will talk about the most topical tax issues such as recent tax changes, transfer pricing, agent tax consideration, small taxpayer issues and the tax dispute process. There will be a Q&A session after each presentation where audience members can address the speakers directly and ask questions.

The panel discussions held in the forum in 2016 received very favourable reviews, with excellent audience approval. This year there will be two panel discussions, balanced with both senior level participants from the GDT and industry tax experts. Topics include “tax incentives and recent changes” and “tax disputes, SME, and other tax issues”.

Interactions between industry professionals and GDT management are expected to be robust. As was the case last year, significant engagement from the audience is expected, given the access to senior officials from the GDT.

The entrance fee is $50 for EuroCham members and $60 for non-members. This includes access to the forum, lunch and the networking event afterwards. To register, click here.

The annual forum is a fantastic and unique opportunity to learn about the latest changes and trends in taxation in Cambodia, with presentations and discussions from GDT senior officials and the country’s top tax experts.
