The government  announced yesterday a set of strategies to help farmers hit by the severe drought affecting Cambodia.

According to governmental sources, the water shortage, which is already affecting tens of thousands of families nationwide, could be over in June.

Through the Ministry of Agriculture, the government plans to distribute hardy seeds and animal vaccines, and dig ponds and wells. Provincial authorities have been delivering water to victims while the Ministry of Rural Development has been in charge of digging wells. In total, $124,000 have been allocated to fight the drought, but officials have insisted that more money will be provided if needed.
