iTsumo Taxi App Releases Two New Features

No longer do you have to physically wave to hail a taxi on the street corner or call a local car service to reserve a car and wait at least half an hour to be picked up. iTsumo taxi app has made it possible to secure a ride from any location in Phnom Penh via your smartphone. Launching on January 1 this year, iTsumo is an online and real time taxi booking app, offering the most reliable service and the cheapest taxi fares in the capital. Currently, fares are less than $0.50 per kilometre. iTsumo is available for free for both Android and iOS devices. Moreover, the mobile app is available in five languages – Khmer, English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. ITsumo has expanded its fleet to 500 cars, meaning it can usually arrange a pickup from your location in Phnom Penh in around 5 minutes. “After eight months of the launch of the iTsumo service, we have cornered 80% of the online taxi booking market, and we will continue to serve customers with our products,” said Mom Cleomora, CEO of Sumo Tec Co., Ltd, the Cambodian developers of the app. The service is soon set to cover the provinces of Siem Reap, Battambang, Preah Sihanouk, and Kampong Cham, with expansion into other provinces expected in the near future too. With iTsumo, you can book a taxi from your smartphone in just a few seconds. The app is uses GPS technology, which connects you directly with a driver within a defined range. You don’t need to explain to the driver where they should come to and where you want to go, simply set pickup and drop-off pins on the map. The app also allows you to view the name and photo of the driver, as well as information of their vehicle before you decide to take a ride. You can also see the taxi moving on the map in real time as the driver approaches you. ITsumo taxi app has introduced of a couple of new features that could prove to be game changers in the industry. Firstly, you now no longer have to register to book a ride, meaning you can simply download the app and start using it straight away. Secondly, a VoIP calling service has been embedded so that the user and the driver can connect and talk with each other from within the app. This is a first for Cambodian taxi apps, and provides a good opportunity for foreigners who have just arrived in Cambodia and have yet to obtain a local SIM card to book rides using just WiFi. iTsumo has various taxi options to suits your needs, including tuk-tuk, standard taxi and SUV cars, which are available to serve you anywhere in Phnom Penh. All iTsumo drivers are legally registered and insured, so customers just relax and enjoy the ride. Currently, all fares need to be paid in cash, but the company will start to implement it owns e-wallet service, and more promotions are coming soon.
