Two of the largest Japanese firms with operations in the Kingdom are planning to build new facilities at Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ).
Nippon Express, a well-known logistics company, and Oji Group, a leading packaging firm, last month reached land leasing agreements with the authorities of the special economic zone.
Nagaoka Susumu, senior manager for customer service at PPSEZ, told Khmer Times that Nippon Express, who built its first plant in the Kingdom in 2014, will be leasing four hectares of land at the SEZ to raise a warehouse.
Oji, who built a factory in Preah Sihanouk province in 2012, will lease 6.2 hectares on which it will build a packaging materials factory, Mr Susumu said.
“The new facilities will smooth out the production process for existing investors at PPSEZ. We hope these investments will help attract more manufacturers to the SEZ,” he added.
