A new tool to be launched in September will allow enterprises operating in the ASEAN region to raise specific trade-related issues to the government of ASEAN member states.

The ASEAN Solutions for Investments, Services and Trade, commonly referred to by its acronym ASSIST, is a non-binding and consultative mechanism for the expedited resolution of operational problems encountered by ASEAN-based companies. It provides enterprises the opportunity to easily report any trade-related complaint to the government of ASEAN member states.

The new tool, developed in cooperation with the EU, is fully internet-based and free of charge for any company registered in an ASEAN country.

Through ASSIST, companies are able to raise concerns in the English language and receive a practical response within 40 to 60 days. Examples of issues that ASSIST deals with include the application of tariffs, challenges in having Certificates of Origin accepted, labelling requirements, phytosanitary checks and quotas.

For more information on the ASSIST online tool, visit the official website, or contact the EuroCham team at [email protected].
