Phnom Penh To Host 2017 World Economic Forum

Phnom Penh is set to host the 2017 World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia, local media reported on April 29, taking the reigns from this year’s host Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the conference has yet to be announced, but it is planned for May 2017, local media reported.
The Switzerland-based WEF hosts some of the most high-profile economic conferences in the world, with its annual meeting in Davos attracting heads of state, Fortune 500 CEOs, and a host of celebrities. The WEF also hosts regular regional events like its conference on East Asia, which will bring 700 delegates to the Kingdom. This year’s East Asia forum on June 1 and 2 will focus on major regional trade agreements, including the Asean Economic Community, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and China’s One Belt initiative.
