The Association Of Banks In Cambodia (ABC) has confirmed its new council for the 2024-2025 term which features high-ranking members of several banks and fintech companies from the Kingdom.

The Association of Banks in Cambodia is a professional and non-profit association which promotes the development of the Cambodian financial system and protects the interests of its members. The council was voted in at the ABC Annual General Meeting held at the end of March 2024 and the AGM also saw the presentation of the 2023 Annual Finance Report and the 2024 Budget Plan. 

Mr Raymond Sia (CEO of Canadia Bank Plc) is the departing ABC Chairman and has been succeeded by Mr Rath Sophoan (CEO of Maybank Cambodia Plc), however, Mr Sia will now serve as the Vice-Chairman until 2025. Han Peng Kwang, CEO of Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc. was elected Treasurer for the next year.

The new council outlined its strategic vision as Chairman Sophoan introduced four key pillars for the term:

  1. Governance (ensure they are upheld and functional)
  2. Responsible banking (value-based and increase public trust & financial inclusion)
  3. Ongoing learning (increase members' proficiencies and leadership)
  4. Collaboration to promote economic growth (work together to reach the sector's potential)

The ABC vowed to continue to promote the Cambodian financial system's development and "protect its members' interests through collaboration with local and international bodies."

The ABC Council is made up of a dozen members:

  • Mr Rath Sophoan (CEO of Maybank Cambodia Plc) - ABC Chairman
  • Mr Raymond Sia (CEO of Canadia Bank Plc) - ABC Vice-Chairman
  • Han Peng Kwang, (CEO of Wing Bank Cambodia Plc.) - ABC Treasurer
  • Mrs Mar Amara, Designated President & Group Managing Director (PGMD) of ACLEDA Bank Plc
  • Zhiger Atchabarov, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Advanced Bank of Asia Limited (ABA Bank)
  • Ong Ming Teck, CEO of Cambodian Public Bank Plc. (CAMPU Bank)
  • Toch Chaochek, CEO of Cambodia Post Bank Plc. (CP Bank)
  • Dith Sochal, CEO of the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia (FTB)
  • Pen Makara, CEO of Angkor Capital Specialized Bank (ACSB)
  • Mrs Dith Nita, Chairperson of Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA)
  • Remi Pell Sisophon, Chairman of the Cambodian Association of Finance & Technology
  • Kea Borann, CEO of AMK MFI Plc., representing Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs)
