Ethan Allen, a leading interior design company from the United States, has expanded into the Kingdom.
Ethan Allen chairman and CEO Farooq Kathwari told Inside Retail Asia that they want to showcase their products to more people, not only in the US, but also in other parts of the world.
“The repositioning of our retail network is done with two primary goals: to expand our reach to more customers, giving them the opportunity to collaborate with our interior designers; and to highlight our quality craftsmanship and incredible diversity of style, the pillars that define Ethan Allen,” he said.
In addition to Cambodia, Ethan Allen also opened recently design centres in Taiwan and Azerbaijan, international media outlets reported.
Ethan Allen, which operates more than 300 stores in the US and abroad, manufactures and sells various kinds of furniture and home furnishings and decorations. The company was established in 1932, making it among the oldest and most-established interior design companies in the world.
Ethan Allen, whose design centre is located along Monivong Boulevard in Phnom Penh, could find a ready and expanding market in Cambodia.
In the last several years, Cambodia has seen a growing interest and demand for quality interior design products and services, a phenomenon largely driven by a booming real estate sector.
Flushed with investments from China and other countries, the local real estate sector continues to churn out hotels, condos, apartments, and other properties, with more in the pipeline. In the first four months of 2019, the Ministry of Land Management approved 1,420 projects worth more than $2.7 billion.
Cambodia’s property boom has led to a greater demand for products like furniture, flooring materials, lighting fixtures, and wall treatments.
Ethan Allen’s entry into the Cambodian market will add to a growing list of local and international design companies operating in the Kingdom, which include such well-known names as The Room and Beyond Design.
