The Inter-Mattrid Beverage (Cambodia) Co Ltd’s $78 million brewery/beverage plant has been approved by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
The multi-million Dollar brewery is being constructed in Dei Ith commune’s Sdao Kanleng II village, Kien Svay district in Kandal province. The new brewery is expected to create as many as 550 jobs.
According to a report in the Phnom Penh Post, an Inter-Mattrid Beverage sales representative said the company is in the process of building the plant, but no timeline for its completion was provided.
There is no operational website (at the time of publishing) for Inter-Mattrid Beverage (Cambodia) Co Ltd, and the company’s Facebook page simply adds “Mattrid Beer is brewed with the finest ingredients and the latest technology from Europe to YOU for the best-testing beer.”
According to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation show, this will be the Kingdom’s 13th brewery/beverage plant.
Earlier in 2020, Cambodian Vattanac Brewery Co Ltd announced its plans to launch a new $87 million brewery in Phnom Penh, while Hanuman Beverages Co Ltd received the approval from Council for the Development of Cambodia for a $160.6 million brewery to be built in Kandal province’s Ang Snuol district.

According to a report provided to the Phnom Penh Post in 2020, there were 10 breweries and beverage plants in Cambodia listed at the ministry at the start of the year. Based on the information we have, we think this is the updated list:

There are also a number of craft brewers operating in Cambodia.
We have counted over 20 craft beer and cider producers in Cambodia, and according to a report by Euromonitor International – “Beer volume consumption in Southeast Asia is expected to grow at a healthy CAGR (Compound annual growth rate) of 5% up to 2023, with the Philippines and Vietnam being the key growth drivers.”
