Lok Chumteav Mao Chamnan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The Royal Group of Companies and Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc., and wife of Neak Oknha Kith Meng, made a USD $999,999 donation to the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) to support the organisation’s humanitarian aid efforts.

For the occasion of the 161st anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, to be commemorated on May 8, 2024, Lok Chumteav Mao Chamnan, together with her family, made a personal contribution to the CRC to bolster the organisation’s ongoing efforts in delivering essential humanitarian assistance to the community.

“I am deeply grateful to the Cambodian Red Cross for their tireless efforts in serving our community,” said Chamnan. “The dedication and hard work of the Cambodian Red Cross mean so much to our community, uplifting lives and bringing hope to those in need.”

Accompanied by the senior management team of the Royal Group of Companies and Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc., Chamnan personally presented the donation to H.E. Ouk Maly, Head of the Financial Committee of the CRC at its headquarters in Phnom Penh on April 24, 2024.

Chamnan and her family annually contribute to the CRC on the occasion of the organisation’s anniversary to show their support for its community-driven initiatives. Since 1995, Kith Meng’s family has donated a total of approximately USD $5 million, 200 tons of rice, and two units of vehicles to the CRC.

The substantial contribution will enable the CRC to continue fulfilling its mission of providing vital humanitarian services, addressing challenges, fostering community resilience, and alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable members of society.

Chamnan strongly encourages others who wish to support communities in need to visit the CRC and make their contributions, “As together, we can make a significant impact on the world, ” she added.

The CRC remains actively engaged in humanitarian efforts, implementing a range of programs to enhance community resilience and alleviate suffering among the nation’s most vulnerable citizens—including the elderly, persons with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, widows, orphans, and families experiencing challenging circumstances.

Established on February 18, 1955, the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has been recognised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) since October 7, 1960, when it became a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
